My film is about pre-colonial instruments of the Philippines, and post-colonial celebrations, that are utilized through synths and Youtube recordings. Digital tools as a colonial tool but also as a platform for documenting specific or sacred rituals exposes a culture to the broader West. This makes me question what platforms the "foreigner"? How am I attaining knowledge through access ports such as the web? The web is neutral but the practice is tainted, parallel to the dance is historic but the festival is proof of survival. The cultural nostalgia is painful and joyful, yet I decide to dance anyways. My work is a search for the Filipino in a school library, movies, photos between Cebu City & Los Angeles, and online videos.
