Millicent Villacastin
born in san fernando valley, los angeles
based in bay area, ca

Millicent is an interdisciplinary artist that focuses on craft with the hands. They work primarily in ceramics to hand build sculptures that explores the human identity, the Filipino, the American, and the queer reality. They’re inspired by Filipino mythologies, storytelling, and the human experience. Millicent’s work centers bodies of color and queerness, as something that is explored as the endurer/observer. They look to their own body, of oral and short stories, and sacred animals to represent communities that feel hybrid-human. This comes from Millicent’s background as a Filipinx-American, brought up in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and the Philippines.
